CBO is offering an opportunity for individuals who have a kind heart, passion, motivation, and commitment to serve the underserved society in Ethiopia as a volunteer member of CBO. Our volunteer membership is open to anyone regardless of their location, citizenship, or profession.

How remote volunteer members can support our community?

Remote volunteer members can support our community by:

1. Providing online professional advice, consulting, training, or mentorship.
2. Engaging in fundraising efforts such as searching for grants and donors, and sharing fundraising links.
3. Networking by promoting our organization, community services, and fundraising links through personal networks like social media and work-related networks.
4. Making membership contributions and donations every three months.
5. Participating in online training courses that align with their profession and expertise as a trainer.
6. Contributing support in other possible ways as a volunteer.

Your application will be reviewed and approved by the CBO Volunteer member application committee. You will receive an email as soon as your application is reviewed.

Do I need to be a medical doctor or a health professional to volunteer with your organization?

No, you do not need to be a health professional to volunteer with the Community Boosting Organization. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds, whether you are an accountant, engineer, lawyer, or in any other profession. You can contribute in ways that align with your skills or through general activities that anyone can participate in. Even without formal academic education, you can still play a valuable role. All we ask is for a helpful heart and a positive mindset to support those in need.

What are the benefits of volunteering with your organization?

Volunteering with our organization offers a deep sense of fulfillment, as you’ll be helping individuals overcome critical illnesses, severe pain, illiteracy, and hopelessness. Additionally, upon completing your service, we will provide you with a certificate of volunteerism as a token of our deep gratitude. When employment or agency opportunities arise, we prioritize our dedicated volunteers who meet the academic and experience requirements for the position.

Our Membership plans for International Applicants

For international applicants, there are three distinct membership categories, each showcased by vibrant color grade IDs, along with an exclusive VIP category. Opportunities blossom as you progress from Red to Yellow to Green. Members within the same color category enjoy equal opportunities for growth and contribution.

Moreover, our distinguished VIPs unlock enhanced opportunities as they elevate from Silver to Gold to Platinum. You have the freedom to select a grade and level that aligns with your dedication and goals. Responsibilities and payments are to be fulfilled every three months to ensure your continued membership.

Yellow ID

Members are required to fulfill the following every 3 months

  • Pay 50 USD and serve the organization for 6 days or
  • Pay 100 USD and serve the organization for 4 days or
  • Pay 200 USD and serve the organization for 2 days or
  • Pay 500 USD with no service requirement.

Green ID

Members are required to fulfill the following every 3 months

  • Pay 500 USD and serve the organization for 6 days or
  • Pay 1,000 USD and serve the organization for 4 days or
  • Pay 2,000 USD and serve the organization for 2 days or
  • Pay 3,000 USD with no service requirement.

VIP

Members Are Required to Fulfill the Following Every 3 Months: No Activity Obligations for VIP Members

  • VIP Silver member:Pay 10,000 USD.
  • VIP Gold member:Pay 25,000 USD.
  • VIP Platinum member: Pay 50,000 USD.

Our Membership plans for Ethiopian Applicants

For Ethiopian applicants living in Ethiopia, there are three membership categories, each shown by different color grade IDs, along with an exclusive VIP category. You can move up from Red to Yellow to Green. Everyone in the same color category has equal chances to grow and help.

In addition, our special VIPs can enjoy more opportunities as they move from Silver to Gold to Platinum. You can choose a grade and level that fits your commitment and goals. Responsibilities and payments need to be completed every three months to keep your membership active.

Yellow ID

Members are required to fulfill the following every 3 months

  • Shall pay 500 Birr and serve the organization for 12 days or
  • Shall pay 1000 USD and serve the organizations for 6 days or
  • Shall pay 2000 Birr and serve the organization for 2 day
  • Shall pay 3000 Birr only

Green ID

Members are required to fulfill the following every 3 months

  • Shall pay 2000 Birr and serve the organization for 12 days or
  • Shall pay 3500 Birr and serve the organizations for 6 days or
  • Shall pay 5000 Birr and serve the organization for 3 day
  • Shall pay 7500 Birr only

VIP

Members Are Required to Fulfill the Following Every 3 Months: No Activity Obligations for VIP Members

  • VIP Silver member: Pay 25,000 Birr only.
  • VIP Gold member: Pay 50,000 Birr only.
  • VIP Platinum member: Pay 100,000 Birr only.

These members contribute in numerous ways, including through membership fees, promoting our organization, assisting with fundraising efforts, offering innovative ideas, identifying potential donors, and even leveraging their professional expertise to support our projects. We are grateful for their unwavering commitment and dedication to our cause.

Hailemichael Wasye

Co-founder, Senior Volunteer, previous Board Chairperson

Dr. Hailemichael Wasye is a highly experienced medical doctor who has volunteered extensively at local, national, and international medical associations. He has held various positions at the Ethiopian Medical Students Association-Bahir Dar, including Vice Director of Charity, Project Coordinator, and COVID-19 Emergency Response Team Coordinator. He also served as the East African Regional Coordinator for the Federation of African Medical Students Association (FAMSA) in 2020/2021 and as the National Director of SCHE. Additionally, he was the Vice President of the Student Union at Bahir Dar University College of Medicine and Health Science. Currently, he serves as the medical director of Kamash Primary Hospital and is the Co-Founder and Board Chairperson of a community-boosting organization since September 28, 2020.

Jerusalem Kefale

senior volunteer, Previous vice general manager and finance head

Miss Jerusalem Kefale is a psychiatric professional who has worked as vice general manager and finance head of Community Boosting Organization (CBO) from January 2021 to June 2022. After that, she worked as a psychiatric professional at Good Samartha Organization and Amhara Public Health Institution for 9 months each. Currently, she serves as CBO’s senior volunteer and counsellor at the Center for Victims of Torture.

Alemayehu L. Duga

Proactive Volunteer member

Dr. Alemayehu L. Duga is a pharmacy professional and PhD candidate in Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology. He has extensive experience in pharmaceutical system strengthening, academia, and pharmacovigilance at all levels. He has worked as a Pharmacovigilance E-learning Consultant, Pharmacovigilance Auditor, patient safety technical advisor, and Pharmacovigilance Coordinator and Principal Technical Advisor. Currently, he serves as Senior Pharmacovigilance Technical Officer of Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

Yonas G. Hagos

Proactive Volunteer member

Mr. Yonas G. Hagos is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas, NC, TN, and GA and a Project Management Professional (PMP) with over 13 years of progressive professional experience managing water and wastewater projects. Through these years, He grew his technical, project management, communication, and people leadership skills.

Degu Daniel

Proactive Volunteer member

Degu Daniel graduated from Bonga University's Department of Agribusiness and Value Chain Management with a CGPA of 3.95 and passed the university exit exam with a high score. He obtained a gold medal award from the University for his top score. His passion is building well-developed value chains to ensure a prosperous, food-secure, and economically sound society.

Dawit Yirdaw

Dawit Yirdaw graduated from Samara University with a BSc degree in Computer Science with a CGPA of 3.57, and he passed the National University exit exam by working 62%. As a computer science graduate, his passion lies in creating innovative web and mobile applications.
