The Volunteer Health Professionals Service Support Project (VHPSSP) has successfully operated in Bahir Dar and Debre Birihan from 2021 to 2023 and has now launched atMizan Tepi University Teaching Hospital in Mizan Aman, Ethiopia. This initiative recruits newly graduated health professionals, integrating them into partner public healthcare facilities where they work full hours with full responsibility under the supervision of project coordinators.

The project has two primary objectives: first, to alleviate the shortage of health professionals in hospitals, thereby enhancing the quality of care and reducing patient wait times, particularly amid a devastating malaria epidemic that has stretched resources thin. Second, it aims to benefit the health professionals by providing them with vital experience letters after a minimum of four months of service, increasing their employability.

The Volunteer Health Professionals Service Support Project (VHPSSP) recruits newly graduated health professionals for public hospitals facing staff shortages. Volunteers work full hours with staff duties, unpaid.

Currently, VHPSSP operates without financial backing, relying on in-kind support such as personal protective equipment and food services from partner hospitals. We are actively seeking grants and donations to cover transport allowances, meals, training, and administrative costs.

If you are an employer or know of any organizations seeking skilled health professionals, we encourage you to consider our dedicated volunteers. They have selflessly served their communities for up to two years without salary, gaining invaluable experience in the process. Our volunteers are equipped to provide compassionate, skilled care under any circumstances, ensuring the highest level of service to your patients.

We appreciate your consideration in employing our volunteer health professionals and supporting this vital community service. Thank you!
